MADRID, March 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Athletic Club striker Iñaki Williams has been called up this Thursday by the Ghanaian team for the double match against Angola in the Africa Cup qualifiers, the Gahnese Football Federation reported in a statement.
The rojiblanco striker, who has scored five goals in the league and hasn’t seen a goal since October 30 last year, was already part of the squad that played in the World Cup in Qatar and now enters the list of 25 players drawn up by the coach, Chris Hughton.
The new coach of the ‘Black Stars’, formerly of Tottenham, offered his first list since he arrived at the charge on February 12, which also includes the Celta center-back Joseph Aidoo, who was not in the World Cup. The defender of Carlos Carvalhal’s team, who has given him many stripes in the sky-blue team, made his debut with his team in 2019, and has 11 caps.
Ghana will play a double match against Angola in the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations to be held in Ivory Coast in January 2024. Both teams are at the top of their group with a win and a draw, although it is the Ghanaian team the one who leads the relationship of four teams.
The first meeting between the two African teams will be at the Baba Yara Sports stadium on Thursday, March 23, while the second duel will take place just four days later, on March 27, in Luanda.
