MADRID, March 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Villarreal CF celebrated its centenary party this Friday at the La Cerámica Stadium, packed with almost 20,000 fans, where it recalled all the eras of the club and the city, in a celebration that included the participation of 7 associations, 7 bands of music from the province and 7 individual artists, which meant a total staging of 600 people.

The event began by showing the social context of the 20’s of the last century -when CD Villarreal was founded-, with a tribute to an icon from Vila-real such as Francisco Tàrrega with two local musicians (cellist Alfonso Rochera and guitarist Sara Mezquita ). The ‘Ball de l’Anguila’ continued as a leisure tradition of the time through the Associació Cultural El Trull, dolçainers i tabaleters and the Grup de Danses El Raval, also accompanied by the Vila-real gigantera group: Pasqualet, Marigracieta, Jaumet i Pinella.

Once the environment was represented, the historical part of the entity began, with the biography of the founder and important figure of CD Villarreal, José Calduch and the memory of Pascual Font, with whom the first great milestone of the club arrived: promotion to the Segunda División in 1970, when the song of the Yellow Submarine by Los Mustang, covered by The Beatles, became a hymn for fans.

The singer Santi Carulla, who already performed at the then Madrigal after that achievement, returned to La Cerámica to be able to perform it at the centenary party. The fans sang the ‘hit’ live again and the inflatable yellow submarine of great modern feats, accompanied by a yellow tide of fans and the Groguet mascot, shone again on the pitch.

Later, the memory of the late José Manuel Llaneza took place, as a decisive manager in the modern era of the club. At that moment, the club’s official anthem was played, to which Toni Pitarch gave lyrics and the Sant Jaume Choir, directed by Alfredo Sanz, provided the music. Accompanied by the Violincheli Brothers (Alejandro and Pablo Turlo), they performed the hymn in front of the people. The public also had the opportunity to sing another of the most popular songs of the ‘groguet’ fans such as Violeta, by the Argentine singer Alcides, or the song Lax’n’Busto, which the singer Salva Racero sang live and moved everyone present .

Lastly, a special mention was made of the only title achieved by the club so far, the UEFA Europa League won in Gdansk against Manchester United. It was the moment in which the party turned up the heat and the current team captains Raúl Albiol, Manu Trigueros, Gerard Moreno, Dani Parejo and Pau Torres, together with the president Fernando Roig, exhibited the trophy before the fans.

The night ended with the centenary hymn composed by the renowned Nacho Cano, accompanied by the voices of Amanda Digon and Dani Rosado, and with the music of 7 music bands from the province. All the fans closed the party by singing Happy Birthday in unison.
