Fede Vidal’s men beat Moldova and arrive as the first to the ‘Elite Round’

MADRID, March 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish men’s futsal team thrashed Moldova (0-4) this Wednesday to close the main qualifying round for the 2024 World Cup as first in Group 1, already thinking about the ‘Elite Round’ where they hope to get the final ticket.

Those of Fede Vidal will be on July 5 in the draw for a final phase that will be held before the end of the year. Twenty teams will be divided into five groups of four teams, with home and away matches, and the first five will have a direct ticket to the final phase of the 2024 World Cup in Nicaragua.

Spain won without problems at the FMF Futsal Arena by Ciorescu, with intensity and starting chances through Mellado and Adolfo. On the third round, Pablo Ramírez made it 0-1 and the Andalusian center himself doubled the lead a minute later against a closed rival.

Moldova launched some dangerous counter, but the chances were Vidal’s. Raúl Gómez ran into the crossbar, Raúl Jiménez opened his scoring account as an international player and Sergio Lozano also hit the post before the break.

The Moldovan team increased the intensity and stopped the bleeding but did not know how to create danger on the rival goal. Pablo Ramírez put the finishing touch with his hat-trick with five minutes remaining that the Moldovan team played with a goalkeeper player without success.
